Nora McAniff was named Executive Vice President of Time Inc. in August 2002. She's responsible for all business and development activities of the Time Inc. Women's Group, including such magazines as In Style, Real Simple, Health, Parenting and Essence, which collectively reach over 45 million women in the U.S. In addition, McAniff has direct oversight of People magazine, and she also manages Time Inc.'s Growth Markets Group. McAniff had been president of the People Magazine Group since 2001, with P&L responsibilities for People, and the monthly magazines, Teen People and People en Espaņol. She was appointed president of People in November 1998, after serving as publisher of the magazine since September 1993, and taking on the additional role of publisher of Teen People during its development and launch 1998. Under her leadership, People was named Advertising Age's "Magazine of the Year" and also ranked at the top of Adweek's "Hot List." She also launched and led the magazine's groundbreaking "Digital Heroes Campaign," which paired over 100 celebrities and prominent leaders with underserved teens in online mentoring relationships. McAniff was also the publisher of Life for a brief period in 1993. During that time she reformulated the publishing equation to reinvigorate one of the company's most treasured brands. McAniff joined Time Inc. in 1982 as a marketing information manager at People. She later became an ad sales representative and northeastern sales manager for the magazine. In 1990 she was promoted to the newly-created position of New York advertising director before becoming publisher. McAniff's awards include being named one of Crain's N.Y. Business's "Forty Under Forty," induction into the American Advertising Federation's Hall of Achievement and being honored as a "Star" by the New York Women's Agenda. She served as president of the Advertising Women of New York (AWNY) from 1997 to 1999. Currently, she is a member of the board of directors of Saks Fifth Avenue, and the Michael J. Fox Foundation for Parkinson's Research. A graduate of Baruch College with a B.A. in marketing, McAniff lives in Manhattan and Bridgehampton with her husband.
